Karen is a senior lawyer who has practised exclusively in the area of family law since 1990. She is a mediator and registered collaborative professional. Karen graduated from the University of Calgary with a JD in 1989.

Karen recognizes that the adversarial process can create rather than solve problems; destroy rather than heal families; and, restrict rather than enhance the resources available to separating couples.

Karen therefore works diligently for her clients and their families to find a resolution which is acceptable to all parties. Using her skills as a mediator and collaborative lawyer, Karen resolves matters of parenting, child support, spousal support and property division. She especially enjoys the challenges presented by complicated property situations.

Karen believes in providing her clients with information and knowledge. This will allow her clients to make the best and most informed decisions for their future. She has fostered professional relationships with other family law lawyers over her nearly 25 years of practice. This allows her to be effective when advocating for her clients and representing their interests.

Karen also recognizes that for a small number of families, a settlement is simply not attainable. For this reason and when required, Karen will guide her clients through the court process with vigour and perseverance.
