Articling Student
Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Simon was born and raised in Calgary, but he also studied in Ontario, Edmonton, and Medicine Hat. During his philosophy and divinity degrees, Simon focused on the history of ideas. Meanwhile, he volunteered extensively at community organizations like schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and even a daycare for toddlers of families in distress.

While he earned his business administration and jurisprudence degrees, Simon also engaged in the extracurricular activities:

  • Recipient of the 2019 Bro Bono Law Alberta Above and Beyond Award for independent and extraordinary contribution to pro bono legal causes;
  • Graded university assignments on international finance, business strategy, and marketing;
  • Worked at Disabilities Services at the University of Calgary.

During his recent studies, Simon advocated for broader public participation through the University of Calgary’s Public Interest Clinic. For example, he participated in an intervention at the Supreme Court of Canada. During his graduate studies, Simon also won an opportunity through Cummins School of Medicine and Haskayne School of Business to perform primary research at an Alberta Hospital.

Simon says, "I favoured tax classes in school. For me, the tax courses brought together my passion for exploration of ideas and rigorous academic discipline." In his free time, Simon enjoys playing board games, cooking, and reading.
