Julie Kim

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Julie joined Calgary Family Law Associates in 2019 after completing her articles at a boutique firm that provided a wide range of services including family, civil litigation, and criminal law.

Prior to attending law school, Julie worked with children and youth who had learning and behavioural challenges for a number of years. From her extensive experience helping families navigate a difficult situation, she honed her strengths to identify the needs of her clients, relate to their feelings, express empathy, and suggest client-centred, cost-effective recommendations.

In addition, Julie’s advocacy experience during law school led her to general litigation practice including employment. At the University of Calgary, she actively participated in Student Legal Assistance, assisting individuals with appearing in courtrooms for their family and criminal matters. She participated in competitive mooting programs and represented the University of Calgary in the Alberta Court of Appeal Moot (2016) and the McIntyre Criminal Trial Moot (2017).

Julie regularly appears before the Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta. She strives to constructively manage conflict in a manner that provides a long term solution for her clients and their children with a healthy and stable foundation.

Julie enjoys cooking, travelling, spending time with her young family, and volunteering in the community. Currently she serves as a director of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers as well as the Calgary Korean Cultural Centre.
