Cindy M. Marshall

Calgary , Alberta, Canada

I am a bilingual (French and English) lawyer from Thompson, Manitoba. I have an undergraduate degree from Brandon University in Music and French Literature as well as a Baccalauréat en Droit from the Common Law en Français program at Université de Moncton in Moncton, New Brunswick.

My legal experience began while working as a hearings officer summer student at Citizenship and Immigration in Vancouver, British Columbia and articling and practicing law at the Department of Justice in its Legal Excellence Program, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While at the Department of Justice, I gained valuable legal experience in the areas of Immigration Law, Tax Litigation, Civil Litigation and Criminal Prosecutions. As an articling student and first year lawyer, I spent my free time playing club rugby and competing on the Manitoba Provincial Rugby Team.

In July 2004, I moved to Calgary because I was invited to try the sport of Bobsleigh. I made the Canadian National Team and competed for Canada internationally from Winter 2004 until Winter 2009. Along with my change in province, I made the move to private practice, where I ran my own firm and practiced primarily in Family Law.

In addition to my legal and athletic accomplishments, I spent several years as an athlete advocate, advocating for my fellow athletes within the Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton program and internationally with the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT).

Currently, I put my advocacy talents to work advocating for clients who are going through the litigation process in all aspects of the Provincial Family Court and Court of Queen's Bench Family Law applications. My passion for and dedication to Family Law as well as my direct style enable me to provide high quality, well-reasoned, researched and realistic legal advice to my clients.
